Glory Be To God On High
~Charles Wesley~
Glory be to God on high,
God whose glory fills the skies;
Peace on earth to man forgiv'n,
Man, the well beloved of Heav'n.
Sovereign Father, heavenly King,
Thee we now presume to sing;
Glad, Thine attributes confess,
Glorious all, and numberless.
Hail,by all Thy works adored!
Hail, the everlasting Lord!
Thee with thankful hearts we prove
God of power, and God of love.
Christ our Lord, and God we own,
Christ, the Father's only Son,
Lamb of offending man.
Bow Thine ear, in mercy bow,
Hear, the world's atonement, Thou!
Jesus, in Thy name we pray,
Take, O take our sins away!
Powerful advocate with God,
Justify us by Thy blood;
Bow Thine ear, in mercy bow,
Hear, the world's atonement, Thou!
Hear, for Thou, O Christ, alone
Art with God the Father One,
One the Holy Ghost with Thee,
One supreme, eternal Three.

The Heavens Declare Thy Glory
~Isaac Watts~
The heav'ns declare Thy glory, Lord,
In every star Thy wisdom shines
But when our eyes behold Thy Word,
We read Thy name in fairer lines.
The rolling sun, the changing light,
And nights and days, Thy power confess
But the blest volume Thou hast writ
Reveals Thy justice and Thy grace.
Sun, moon, and stars convey Thy praise
Round the whole earth, and never stand:
So when Thy truth begun its race,
It touched and glanced on every land.
Nor shall Thy spreading Gospel rest
Till through the world Thy truth has run,
Till Christ has all the nations blest
That see the light or feel the sun.
Great Sun of Righteousness, arise,
Bless the dark world with heav'nly light;
thy Gospel makes the simple wise,
Thy laws are pure, Thy judgments right.
Thy noblest wonders here we view
In souls renewed and sins forgiv'n;
Lord, cleanse my sins, my soul renew,
And make Thy Word my guide to Heaven.

O God of Good, the Unfathomed Sea
~John Wesley~
O God of Good th' unfathom'd Sea
Who would not give his heart to Thee?
Who would not love Thee with his Might?
O Jesus, Lover of mankind,
Who would not his whole Soul and Mind,
With all his Strength to Thee unite?
Thou shinest with everlasting rays;
Before th' insufferable Blaze
Angels with both wings veil their eyes;
Yet free as air Thy Bounty streams
On all Thy works, Thy mercy's beams,
Diffusive as Thy Sun's arise.
Astonish'd at Thy frowning brow,
Earth, hell, and Heav'n's strong pillars bow,
Terrible majesty is Thine!
Who then can that vast Love express,
Which bows Thee down to me, who less
Than nothing am, 'till Thou art mine?
High-thron'd on Heav'n's eternal Hill,
In number, weight,and measure still
Thou sweetly order'st all that is,
And yet Thou deign'st to come to me,
And guide my steps, that I with Thee
Inthron'd, may reign in endless bliss.
Fountain of Good all Blessing flows
From Thee; no want Thy fullness knows,
What but Thyself canst Thou desire?
Yes; self-sufficient as Thou art,
Thou dost desire my worthless heart;
This, only this Thou dost require.
Primeval Beauty! in Thy sight,
The first-born fairest Sons of light,
See all their brightest Glories fade;
What then to me Thine eyes could turn,
In sin conceiv'd, of woman born,
A worm, a leaf, a blast, a shade!
Hell's armies tremble at Thy nod,
And trembling own th' almighty God,
Sov'reign of earth, hell, air, and sky,
But who is this that comes from afar,
Whose garments roll'd in blood appear?
'Tis God made man, for man to die.
O God of good th' unfathom'd Sea,
Who would not give his heart to Thee?
Who would not love Thee with his might?
O Jesus, Lover of mankind,
Who would not his whole soul and mind,
With all his strength to Thee unite?

O God of Bethel, by Whose Hand
~Philip Doddridge~
O God of Bethel, by Whose hand
Thy people still are fed;
Who through this weary pilgrimage
Hast all our father's led!
Our vows, our prayers, we now present
Before Thy throne of grace:
God of our fathers, be the God
Of their succeeding race.
Through each perplexing path of life
Our wandering footsteps guide;
Give us each day our daily bread,
And raiment fit provide.
Oh, spread Thy sheltering wings around,
Till all our wanderings cease,
And at our Father's loved abode
Our souls arrive in peace!
Such blessings from Thy gracious hand
Our humble prayers implore;
And Thou shalt be our chosen God,
Our portion evermore.
